Gendai-to katana by Kuniyasu

This is a Gendai-to, 1930’s or 1940’s, sword made by the smith Kuniyasu.
Hawley’s Japanese Swordsmiths Revised (KUN1718) states that he worked in the 1940’s in the Aichi province.
The 26 7/8 inch blade has very nice running itame hada with very fine suguha hamon.
The kissaki has a very strong shape with Nie Kuzure boshi.
Lots of nie crystals are scattered making the boshi look like Hakikake.
The blade is mounted in near mint shin-gunto kashira.
These army mounts have the sukashi tsuba where all of the seppa and tsuba have matching numbers.
This blade is in excellent old polish and would be a great blade for any collection.
