Wakizashi by Ujitsugu

A Wakizashi sign Ashu Kaibu ju Ujitsugu and is 15.4 inch long from 1600’s.
This is a very interesting wakizashi that is signed above the shinogi much like a kozuka.
The shape is hira-zukuri on the omote side and shinogi-zukuri on the ura side.
The signature is on the ura side of the blade. There are a number of Ujitsugu listed
in Hawley’s Japanese swordsmiths book from 1469 to 1716.
I believe this is the smith that worked around late 1600’s to the early 1700’s.
The blade has itame hada with one fukure yabure.
There are a couple of cut marks in the mune and a couple of small chips in the blade.
The hamon is gunome midare with lots of nie and becomes more active towards the boshi.
